An Arctic Summer, As Seen Through the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens
3 12 Share TweetEver wondered what summer is like in Greenland? The world's largest island, nestled between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, experiences fleeting summers. During this time, flowers start to bloom, the ice breaks up, and landscapes—which are most of the time covered in snow—shed their white coat to reveal lush greens.
Lomographer @jeanne_d_arctique seized the brief sunny moments with her Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens, showing us two sides of the island's warmer climes and two sides of the art lens, too.
For the photos of flowers in bloom, she utilized the Daguerreotype Achromat's dreamier qualities, experimenting with textured backgrounds and soft bokeh to highlight the subject. On the other side, she opted to maximize the Daguerreotype Achromat's sharpness, so as to draw focus on the sea ice and its melting, breaking form.
We've always talked about the Daguerreotype Achromat as the ideal art lens for soft, dream-like effects. But it's also a prime choice if you're aiming to focus on sharper details!
