Football World Cups, By Lomographers Around the World

As the Men's Football World Cup is under way and with the Women's to follow next year, we take a look at the ways in which the tournament is more than just the results. The World Cup brings with it many personal stories that can be found around the world. These pictures taken by Lomographers give us an intimate look at the game, and show the friendships, connections, and meaningful moments experienced.

Like any international sporting event, The World Cup has the power to bring together whole nations under one flag. Families, friends, and neighbours band together to cheer on the chance of their country winning glory. While fans flock to the host country to witness new cultures, make friends and witness a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

As someone from a country whose team never makes it to the finals, I've only had my World Cup experience through qualifying rounds. But it still feels exciting to cheer on and watch the best of the best to try and give their country glory. Recently our women's team qualified for the first time in our history and will be making their way to the Women's World Cup next year.
