Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

Hello! My hometown is at Johor but I work here at Kedah as an IC Mask Design Engineer at Intel Malaysia. Among my friends I think I’m the busiest person with a stressful carrier, but I enjoy it, of course to pay the rent and get a new camera.

I have a lot of hobbies; I am most passionate about any type of cameras — toy, plastics, TLR, 35mm, medium format, any kind of camera I just want to try!

Besides that, I love to ride my BMX, riding with my friends, traveling, meeting new people, chilling, learning new tricks and progressing my level of riding.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

Back in 2008, I found one photography blog that inspired me. That blog included pictures of multiple exposures and cross processes from the Holga and the LC-A. So I asked a friend who was in photography that time and he said that it was Lomography! I was so excited so I joined a local analogue community forum, LomoKids, now called Effects. From there I learned a lot from my first Lomography camera, the Fisheye2.

From that time I also discovered the Community, the place where I can upload my photo and share it around the world, found a lot of people with same interests and passion!

Darwina LomoKino Version

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Classic, unique, fun, art, and inspired

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

Go to the a place with the sun above your head, load any kind of film, start cranking the wheels, use close up mode, find something moving and love it! Process it, put a nice music, then you have created a beautiful movie.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

I love making short movies, I loved to shoot my friend skating, and making some short videos. I also love making stop-motion movies. So when the LomoKino was launched and I saw some movies from this camera — I was so excited. I said to myself why don’t I try it? It’s kind of classy and very old school!

FYI, I have make a short movie using Super Sampler inspired from LomoKino.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

Yes, when I’m holding the LomoKino, people around me just gets curious about it! Some people thinks I’m playing with a toy. Hey! This toy is so cool and I can create movies with it! So I ask them to try and crank the wheel!

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

Zooey Deschanel. I love her acting! I watched all of her movies and TV series! Her style is also inspiring! I want to meet and shoot her with the LomoKino so bad.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

A documentary by Zan Azlee, I loved the way he put a smile on these children using the LomoKino

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

Actually, I already have some plan with my LomoKino. I plan to make a double or swap film movie. So on one play we can see two movies at the same time. Any LomoKino moviemaker out there who wants to give a try? You can message me.

Second, I plan I want to shoot some local skater who is my friend. That’s kind of tough because it cannot be shot again, only one shoot with no mistake.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

Go to the beach, go to a beautiful place, bring along your friends or spouse and shoot with confidence and have fun. Make some sweet memories with the Lomokino. Be patient to crop the photo. You won’t regret.

Enter a new analogue dimension with the LomoKino. Lomography’s own 35mm analogue movie camera allows you to capture action and immortalize your story on film! Shoot 144 frames on any 35mm film and create your own cinematic masterpieces. Want to watch your movie the old-school way? We also offer the LomoKino and LomoKinoscope package!
