The Joan Miró Foundation is a museum dedicated to Joan Miró himself. It contains large scale of his works, overall 14,000 pieces. The museum is located on Montjuïc, Barcelona. It was opened in 1975.

Surrealistic artist Joan Miró was one of the greatest artist of all time, whose works still influence in todays art world. He was born in Barcelona in 20.4.1893, where he studied arts and later moved to Paris in 1920. His unique style has been described as a sandbox for the subconscious mind and a re-creation of the childlike.

The museum also features contemporary artist around the world in form of changing exhibitions and the building was designed by architect Josep Lluís Sert. Unfortunately it is forbidden to take photos inside the museum, so the actual works cannot be photographed. There’s still this nice roof terrace, along some sculptures, where it’s allowed to take photos.
